I built one of the first low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopes, and used it to make tunneling measurements of the
energy gaps of the high Tc cuprate superconductors, including some of the first tunneling measurements of the
gap in polycrystalline and single crystal YBa2Cu3O7-δ.
